Haleys Former Consigliere Returns To Washington

Trey Gowdy Joins White House as Outside Counsel

Haley's Former Consigliere Returns to Washington

Gowdy to Assist in Impeachment Defense

Former South Carolina Representative Trey Gowdy has been retained by the White House as outside counsel as the House prepares to impeach President Trump. Gowdy, who served as the lead prosecutor on the Benghazi Select Committee, will assist in the defense against the impeachment charges.

Gowdy's appointment has been met with mixed reactions. Some legal experts believe that Gowdy's experience in high-profile investigations will be an asset to the White House. Others, however, question whether Gowdy's partisan background will make him an effective advocate for the President.

Gowdy has a long history in Republican politics. He was first elected to the House in 2010 and quickly rose through the ranks. He served as the Chairman of the Benghazi Select Committee from 2014 to 2016, which investigated the 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.

Gowdy left the House in 2018 to join Fox News as a contributor. He has since become a regular guest on the network's political talk shows.
